Who am I?

Hello reader! My name is Caleb Otte. I am a college student at Chapman University and I am studying communication and journalism. I have been working as the sports editor this past year for my school’s paper The Panther and am now the managing editor. I have also done sports, business, arts and local high school reporting for my old paper in Beckley, West Virginia called The Register-Herald. While my career in getting paid to write articles has only just begun to blossom, I’ve always loved sports and have been writing articles and opinion pieces about a plethora of them for 8+ years now. Initially I wrote for myself, and then for a now defunct online sports blogging site called Discuss The Game. Ultimately, I’m just a college kid who loves to write in general. I want a space to share that with the world, and to delve more freely into topics that I want to cover.

What will I be writing about?

I want a non-professional outlet for my writing, something where I’m not as tied down to journalistic style or standards. I love being a journalist and a journalism student, however sometimes I just want to rant and ramble so this space is for that. However, I will also pursue journalistic projects. It just depends on how I’m feeling. I will write certainly cover sports topics, but I intend to also write music/movie/food reviews, about politics/history and essentially anything else I want to. I would expect a large portion of it to be about sports, though, and a good chunk to be still in a sort of journalistic style.

Why subscribe?

You will be able to enjoy lively writing by somebody who is really passionate about what he writes about. Plus it would be pretty cool and I’ll be your friend or some sh*t like that.

Enjoyable Writing

I hope to bring worthwhile words to every topic I post about. Whether it’s something as heavy as living with diabetes, or as fun as a recent sporting event I attended, each and every newsletter/story/article/whateveryoucallit should be filled to the brim with engaging and enjoyable writing.
